Lambeau Luck --- take the leap

Blogger and son visited Lambeau Field for the first time in our lives in August 2007. Though I was born (in Madison, WI) and raised a Packer fan --- at age 55 I’d never before been to Green Bay.

We went at a time when it looked like it would be just another dismal season for the Pack.

But then having been blessed to be able to retire at age 50 in 2002, I was retired for 5 years until early 2007 when by unplanned quirk of fate I was once again employed. I was inspired by Brett Favre - if he still had it in him to continue to play (and not retire) after all these years; perhaps even I had a bit left to contribute.
.
Lambeau Field is open to visitors / tours 364 days a year (closed on Christmas). As such, it is the first NFL stadium to do so (ie open to the public on days other then game days). Other teams / stadiums are now like the Lambeau Leap following the Lambeau example and opening their stadiums to the public. In recent years, Lambeau has held business meetings, weddings and even a divorce celebration in ample abundant space aside from the playing field.
.
During the tour when you come out of the team tunnel at Lambeau it sounds like game day with the crowd roaring. And with the most recent renovation to the stadium, you see how the roar of the crowd is magnified by the acoustics and so it also echos out of the stadium. There are residential homes on the streets adjacent to Lambeau's parking lots. On game day home owners draw top dollar for renting their yards for extra parking.
.
Every game since 1960 has been sold out. When babies are born their names are placed on the waiting list for tickets so that in 25-30 years they may be able to obtain them. Permanent tickets are regularly handed down in last wills.
.
Will Lambeau luck continue in the play-offs? Green Bay vs the NY Giants is the second oldest rivilary in the NFL.
.
In any, event its worth a trip to Green Bay.
